Sheet Metal Teacher for New Training Program in Västerås

Your Responsibilities

You will be part of a professional team that is starting a new sheet metal training program from scratch. The work initially involves actively participating in planning and building the program. You will be responsible for facilities, inventory, and teaching materials, as well as contributing to the development of the program's content and structure. You will also be responsible for a safe, well-functioning workshop environment where students can grow and succeed.

Once the program is underway, your main task will be to plan, conduct, and follow up on teaching in both theoretical and practical aspects – focusing on construction sheet metal work. You will motivate the students, monitor their development, and collaborate with APL placements (workplace-based learning), which involves mentoring students in contact with the labor market. The work will be done in close collaboration with colleagues in the work team and will also include participation in team meetings, APT, and quality days. You will collaborate with the industry, participate in trade fairs, and other operational forums where you promote our education.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has a vocational certificate as a sheet metal worker, and if you have certifications in welding techniques MMA, MIG/MAG, and TIG, that is a plus. You should have good IT skills and preferably experience in teaching sheet metal work. If you are accustomed to documenting students' knowledge and development, that is also a positive.

We would like you to have a vocational teacher's degree. If you do not have one, you need to be prepared to start the training within the framework of the position and graduate within five years from the start of employment. Since you will be visiting companies and your students at their APL placements, you need to have a B driver's license. If you have an established network in the industry, preferably locally and regionally, we see that as an asset.

You are confident, self-driven, and take initiative. You have an easy time communicating and collaborating with others and meet both students and colleagues with attentiveness and respect. You are pedagogical and adapt your teaching to different students' needs, meeting them where they are – with both patience and engagement.
